Laurel Canyon House is a private hillside residence organized around a protected courtyard, using a restrained composition of plaster volumes and warm timber ceilings to create a quiet interior world. The architecture balances privacy and openness through deep thresholds, long sightlines, and a sequence of skylit rooms that tune daylight throughout the day. A limited palette of plaster, travertine, and wood establishes material continuity across the plan. The kitchen is anchored by a monolithic stone island, while living and dining spaces are shaped as calm, generous rooms that open selectively to the garden and canyon landscape. A vaulted dining niche introduces a single focused gesture, turning light and proportion into a spatial moment rather than decoration. Circulation is treated as an experience, with a long corridor and softened edges that transition from bright exterior light to warmer interior atmospheres. The result is a house defined by calm proportion, material depth, and an easy continuity between indoor rooms and courtyard life.
